Thank-you to our our many SCC and Parent Volunteers! You Are Wonderful!

We would like to thank our School Community Council for everything that they do to support the learning of the children at École Massey School.  Just recently, the SCC helped to purchase some specialized furniture to help many of our students be more ready to learn.  At school, we spend time working with students to help them to identify, verbalize and use  strategies for self-regulation to improve their learning.  Some of this involves using body breaks, drinking water, having a snack,  using alternative seating and work stations, using fidgets etc..  We have been fortunate enough to be able to purchase a number of standing desks, rockers and transition drums for some of the classrooms.  You priobably have seen exercise balls, fidgets, head phones  and other devices that are also used to help students concentrate on their learning.  Please take the time to talk to your child`s teacher to learn how some of these items help your child or other children in the class.

On behalf of the students and staff of École Massey School, I would like to thank Angelika Niixdorf for the work that she has done to lead the magazine fund-raiser and the Halloween Costume Ball.  It takes a good leader and many helpers to ensure that projects of this kind are a success.  Thank-you to all of the volunteers who helped out in both of these projects.

On behalf of the staff, I would like to thank all of the parent volunteerscoordinators, Jolene Longul and Darcie Fallat, and all the parents volunteers who were able to help out at the last work bee and cover for the teacher lunchroom supervisors so that they could have the opportunity to spend some time to spend together at lunch time.  The help and gift of time together was very much appreciated.

We would also like to thank Peter LaValley and Lynette Farquhar who organized the Parent Surveys and collated the information in a format that can easily be used by teachers to enhance student learning in their classrooms.  We look forward to tapping into the strengths that all of you bring as we strive to teach the outcmes in our curriculum and provide an overall wonderful school experience for your children.  Thank-you so much.
